Diagnostic Sonographer
Location: Houston, TX 77087
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:15 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.
Workdays: 5 days per week
Dress Code: Any scrub color
Travel: Required once per month; may support multiple locations during a shift

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and detail‑oriented Diagnostic Sonographer to join the KSC Radiology Department. This role is responsible for performing high‑quality sonographic examinations while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and accurate diagnostic imaging. The ideal candidate collaborates effectively with radiologists, leadership, and clinical staff and demonstrates strong technical knowledge across multiple ultrasound specialties.
Key Responsibilities
On a daily basis, the Diagnostic Sonographer will:
Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with KSC Radiology Department policies, procedures, and protocols
Conduct sonographic studies in Abdomen, Small Parts, Obstetrics (OB), and Breast, as credentialed
Prepare patients for examinations by verifying patient identity, reviewing physician orders, and explaining procedures clearly
Adapt communication style to meet age‑specific and individual patient needs to ensure cooperation and comfort
Apply sound technical principles to produce optimal diagnostic images, including appropriate probe selection, positioning, and equipment settings
Identify and document anatomical structures, variations, and abnormalities that may affect diagnostic outcomes
Adhere to ultrasound safety standards, including ALARA principles
Utilize sterile or aseptic technique when required for specific procedures
Interact professionally and effectively with patients, coworkers, and staff assigned to other locations
Communicate clearly with Radiologists, Supervisors, and Lead Technologists to give and receive feedback
Accurately document procedures, observations, and technical details in imaging systems or electronic records
Support multiple work locations during a shift when assigned and travel monthly as required
Comply with all KSC safety initiatives, infection prevention practices, and confidentiality requirements
Required Qualifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Minimum of two (2) active certifications, including:
RDMS – Abdomen (ABD)
RDMS – OB/GYN
RDMS – Breast (BR)
RVT or RVS
Demonstrated experience performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations
Ability to clearly understand and respond to questions by providing factual, appropriate information
Preferred Skills & Attributes
Strong knowledge of ultrasound physics, technical imaging principles, and anatomical orientation
Ability to recognize anatomical anomalies affecting image quality
Commitment to ultrasound safety and infection control practices
Experience working across multiple clinical locations
Strong communication, teamwork, and patient‑interaction skills
