Job Description

Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Progressive Care (Day Shift)

Shift: 12‑Hour Day Shift | 06:45 AM – 07:15 PM

Schedule: Full‑time, 36 hours per week

Contract Length: 13 Weeks

Pay Rate: $52–$57 per hour

Guaranteed Hours: 36

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses for a Cardiovascular Progressive Care / Stepdown Unit in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment. This role supports a complex cardiovascular and surgical patient population and is ideal for nurses who thrive in collaborative, team‑oriented settings.

Unit Highlights

  • 40‑bed cardiovascular surgery stepdown unit
  • Primary patient population includes cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients such as CABG, valve replacements, TAVR, thoracic and abdominal surgeries, and vascular procedures
  • Overflow medical cardiology cases including heart failure, chest pain, sepsis, DKA, and arrhythmias
  • Nurse‑to‑patient ratio: 1:5
  • Strong interdisciplinary support including charge nurses, patient care technicians, and unit coordinators

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to post‑operative cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients
  • Monitor and manage telemetry, cardiac drips, chest tubes, epidurals, and tube feedings
  • Administer and titrate IV medications including vasoactive and antiarrhythmic drips
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high‑quality patient care
  • Maintain accurate documentation using the Cerner electronic medical record

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Stepdown and telemetry experience required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Strong cardiac monitoring and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑driven environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent experience with cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients
  • Prior CVICU experience

Additional Information

  • Floating may be required to stepdown, medical‑surgical, or inpatient holding units within scope
  • No on‑call requirement
  • Weekend requirement: minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6‑week schedule period
  • Free parking available
