As a Mail Clerk, you will be the logistics engine of the campus, ensuring that textbooks, supplies, and personal mail are accurately processed and delivered to students and faculty. This is a fast-paced, team-oriented role that requires stamina, accuracy, and a high level of professionalism while interacting with the campus community. Key Responsibilities
- Inbound & Outbound Processing: Unload, sort, scan, and log high volumes of incoming mail and packages daily using data entry systems.
- Campus Distribution: Safely sort and deliver mail, packages, and parcels to various departments and designated locations across the university campus.
- Inventory & Organization: Maintain an organized package room. Please note that the mailroom environment is active and can fluctuate in temperature (slightly hot/cold depending on the season).
- Customer Service: Maintain a professional, polite demeanor at all times while assisting students, staff, and faculty with tracking and retrieving their packages.
Physical Requirements
- Stamina & Mobility: Ability to stand, walk across campus, bend, and reach continuously throughout an 8-hour shift.
- Heavy Lifting: Ability to repeatedly lift, push, and carry packages weighing up to 45 lbs.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Prior experience in mail processing, package sorting, retail logistics, warehouse shipping/receiving, or high-volume data entry is highly preferred.
- Reliability: Exceptional attendance and punctuality are non-negotiable, especially during the heavy peak season at the start of the semester.
- Teamwork: strong collaboration skills and the ability to work efficiently with a tight-knit team of 7 clerks
